Whetstone Cutlery Carbon Steel Double Blade Medieval Axe with Studded Wood Handle

Nice heavy metal. Unsharpened as advertised. The wood handle is a nice hardwood. some finishing issues on one but it gives it a used look. I was going to use it to swing into the ground one time for a ground breaking. I noted the blade on one seemed a little loose. I was a little concerned about the head's attachment and swinging around people. I took it to the garage and hit some empty cardboard boxes and on the third casual swing the head came off falling to the floor. If it came off mid swing from centripital force it could easily seriously injure someone. The brass looking tip is just attached to a bolt that is not attached to the handle. It's just there to hold the bronze decorative tip on. The blade/head is only held on to the wood handle by a little epoxy at the end of the handle inside the blade. I removed the brass tip, its bolt and then drilled into the hole for the bolt. I screwed in a 3" x 1/4" lag bolt. It is safe to take an air swing now, obviously not to chop wood. I might even try to get longer bolts. I prefer to over engineer when safety is at issue. I give it 5 stars for value and appearance as a wall hanger, but one star for safety. It is not advertised as a function battle axe that would cost ten times as much, but even as a cool decorative piece I think it is a safety issue. It is cool, so someone is going to swing it just in the air at minimum. If the epoxy is loose just from shipping you can't trust the head not to come off when that friend says ooh cool and takes some air swings. That said I prefer not having the brass points so I am pretty happy.

Better than I thought it was gonna be and it was at a great price too. The only complaint I have is that the metal bars along the side don't merry up with the axe blade which just looks odd. This is unsharpened and not practical by any means. It makes a decent wall hanger but would be a great one if the support bars connected. But again, for the price I can't complain.

What should be emphasized here is the "Decorative" nature of this Axe. It is what is commonly known as a "Wall-hanger". First of all, it doesnt come sharp. You would actually have to put an edge on it. The blade itself is 11 1/2 " WIDE not tall. The wooden handle is light duty. The lower metal braces on each side near the top serve only to strengthen the wood rather than secure the Battle Axe head, they are not attached to it. My particular Axe came with some gouges and scratches on it. It looks like it was ground to its final shape by a 10 year old and then flung onto an assembly pile of would-be future Axe parts. My advice, make your own or buy something you can actually get your hands on and evaluate before it comes in the mail.

Metal bars not attached but looks decent. Missing a screw though. Wood holds after wacking a tree. Brass looking point in center not centered.Overall a nice wall hanger. For the price it'll be worth it to wait for a sale or such.

I chose this axe because of it looks. It is finely built, scratches on both sides of blade. Looks like it has been in battle. This was a very common weapon used in The Crusades by both Christians and Moslems. Good buy for displaying.

Eat your heart out Conaan, Thor, Kull or other medieval weapons lovers...or users! This is a handsome, double sided battle axe. It's steel is hard and holds an edge well. It feels good in your hands too! Looks great mounted on your living room or medieval collection wall. A great conversation piece.

Great weapon. As advertised. Very weighty and authentic looking. I purchased it for a photo prop and I am very happy with my purchase.

i was expecting it to be bigger but besides that im all around happy with this :D
