Down the Dan Abnett Rabbit Hole again…
Legion is a lightning-fast read that I could scarcely put down. Ominously intelligent writing and insightful dialogue gilds this story as it justly deserves. I applaud the Black Library editorial board and authors for what they have accomplished with the Horus Heresy series. Highly recommended reading.

Needlessly convoluted, peak Alpha Legion
The most unnecessary and obtuse spy story ever. Alpha Legion pointlessly uses lies when the truth would do. Manipulating the Imperial Army through deception and subterfuge when they’re already above it in the chain of command, the Alpha Legion shows us why they’re the most tedious of the Astartes legions.Still, it’s who they are and the novel demonstrates that well. The best parts of the novel come from the characterizations of the Geno Five-Two Chiliad. The genetically modified grunts caught in the crossfire of a power struggle between the Alpha Legion and the 670th Expedition’s Lord Commander.John Grammaticus and the Cabal are introduced. Like the Alpha Legion, they orchestrate complex plots within plots when they could have simply sent an email to explain their point. This book is for anyone that wants to know more about the Alpha Legion or wants a Space Marine story told not from the perspective of the space marines themselves, but from the regular humans that have to put up with them.

One of the better entries.
A good entry into the series. it's just to bad it jas Jhon gramaticus in it. Gramaticus is one of the worst characters in fiction. I mean Jar-Jar binks bad. as long as gramaticus isn't involved the story is very well told.

A pleasant surprise
Maybe surprise is the wrong word, because I love Dan Abnett’s first installment in the heresy series. This book I loved even more, because it is significantly more human than any other novel. Yes Loken and Torgaddon had a great relationship that was quite human, but it doesn’t hold a torch to the Geno 5-2 Chilead. This was the first time I felt like I was reading about soldiers and not stalwart religious zealots in the emperors crusade (a bit ironic, that). Before I ramble too long about my love for Pete and Bronzi, I’ll just say that this book is an absolute delight and if you’re bored early on, just stick with it and you’ll be happy you did.Ps. Abnett’s afterword has me chortling at my desk, so give it a read.

Series continues to get better
This book and book 6 were of far superior quality than its predecessors. I almost stopped reading at book 5, glad I continued

Spy novel set in 40k
Abnett is on point with characters you'll love and despise. The first off the Horus Heresy books to focus on intrigue over martial might, it's a great journey.
