CR2025 Lithium Battery with Solder Tabs

A little pricey for one, but it worked as expected. I used this to replace the battery in my old Pokémon Gold Gameboy color cartridge. It’s been a couple months now and it works great.

Thank goodness for gamers! After 29 years, the memory back up battery in my Yaesu FT-470 handheld. The battery is this common cell but needs the tabs that this one has.Requires soldering but my little radio is good for another 29 years!

I accidentally bought this battery instead of a CR1616 for my GameBoy Advance game cartridge. Luckily CR2025 is 3V. So, with minor bending of the tabs, and a little extra solder, I was able to make this CR2025 battery fit. Now my game cartridge works and I can enjoy my game.

Had to be careful to connect the positive tab to the positive terminal. In my Pokemon Gold the (+)tab of the CR2025 was bent. In this one, the (-)tab was bent. It was a non-issue though - I just had to flip the battery around and it soldered without any need for bending. With a bit of flux it soldered on with no issue. Keep in mind that GBC games were produced before RoHS came into effect, so it's likely that cartridges used leaded solder. You will want to wash your hands after handling the boards.

The tabs were weird, but after I realized that I was able to install it correctly, and it works great!

This is a thinner battery, which I used in a GBA cart (Pokemon Emerald). The tabs are perfectly sized, and only needed a bit of tweaking to lie square and flat. The tabs are also well prepared and the solder attached right to them with minimal heat. Made the replacement process very easy.
