MASALONG Moltres Outdoor Survival Claw Tactical Double Edged Sharp Fixed Blade Knife with Sheath

I was apprehensive about this purchase. I wanted Damascus steal. I have many knives from free (gifts) to $150. Knives serve their purpose depending on how they’re fit to use or be put on display. I also have some basic edged weapons combatives training and know that a knife is a tool that at its best saves the life of a victim. If it looks good, bonus!Anticipating the shock of an attack I wanted to practice with a fixed blade to gauge my preference between that and my many folding knifes that require being pulled out in addition to being flicked open.Suffice it to say, I couldn't be happier with this knife. It is both beautiful and functional. It has great balance and grip. The belt-clip (has 9 holes) can be removed from the sheath (has 5 holes) with a Philips head (2 screws 2 rubber washers) and set on either side (YES IT IS ambidextrous) in any of 24 possible positions (per side). There is a vent/drain(?) hole (visible in pic) on one side of the sheath at the tip of the blade. The kydex sheath is initially stiff and will flake a bit as it breaks in. You could also remove the belt-clip and use a chain, thin rope or shoelace, to better affix to your leg/arm/pack or hang around your neck (upside down for concealed under shirt retrieval) if you prefer.I am right handed and after trying different positions I came back to the factory one (identified in the Q&A section as "left handed") as it draws like a pistol from the abdomen. At least for now, I find this grip most natural/helpful/functional, not only to carry, but in grabbing a knife to combat an attack.

I have a folding karambit knife. But finding a sheath to fit it properly has been very difficult because of its inside-radiused curved blade, and it is a bulky fit to carry in my pocket using its removable pocket clip. While browsing, I first saw and was attracted to the 7.5" Masalong Karambit with a 3.6" D2 tool steel, inward-radius curved, double-edged, full tang, fixed blade with a serrated top rear section, a polished steel bolster with a finger groove, the traditional finger ring that is notched on its outer edge, and a 3.9" beautifully grained natural wood handle scales (species not identified in the listing, but could possibly be cocobolo, rosewood, mahogany or puka wood) with two attractive brass and aluminum rod mosaic pins and two more finger grooves. It also comes with a custom fitted Kydex sheath that attaches to a belt loop block with two Chicago screws and rubber washers, which makes the belt loop block reversible and the multiple holes in the block permit the sheath's angle and ride height to be adjusted nine different ways, including both right or left vertical and horizontal scout/tracker sheath orientations, to accommodate almost any person's wearing and knife positioning preference. It is a magnificent work of art. As soon as I saw it, I could not take my eyes off it. And with a price under $47.00 with Amazon Prime shipping, I knew I had to have it.It arrived quickly and is packaged in a very giftable, elegant black paper-covered box with the knife nestled in a form-fitting cutout black rubber foam holder. Straight from the box, both the inward-radiused bottom blade edge and the front half of the outward-radiused top blade edge were not just arm hair shaving sharp, but ultra smooth, face shaving sharp (although I will NEVER try to shave my face with a curved blade!). Being natural wood, the handle scales will obviously vary in appearance from knife to knife. My knife's wood handle scales are a beautifully grained and patterned warm brown color which picks up the coloring of the two brass and aluminum mosaic pins. The blade, aside from being extremely sharp, exhibits excellent craftsmanship and bladesmithing skills. The grind angles are even and the edge geometry is spot on for a blade made to cut, slice, rip and tear like a tiger's claws, which was the model for karambit knife blades when they were modified from agricultural tools hundreds of years ago in Indonesia. The D2 Tool Steel has been beautifully polished to an almost-mirror finish. Its overall beautiful and eye-catching appearance would easily and justifiably fit well into most "Closet Queens" knife collections.But this knife is so much more than just a closet queen. With the adjustability offered by its Kydex sheath and belt loop block that permits this Masalong Karambit to be positioned for easy, comfortable and speedy drawing, the well-balanced feel and very natural grip provided by its finger-grooved handle and finger ring on its hilt permit it to be gripped with the first finger inserted through the finger ring with the blade curving upward at the bottom of the fist (traditional grip) or with the little finger inserted through the finger ring with the blade curving downward at the top of the fist (hammer grip), the finger ring itself which makes a karambit very difficult to dislodge from its user's hand in combat and can be used in a punching motion to deliver a powerful strike to an opponent, its razor sharp, double-edged, curved D2 Tool Steel blade with its ability to make slashing, ripping, penetrating, lethal strikes from any angle at a speed limited only by its user's hand speed, this knife has the capability to end a knife fight almost as soon as it begins, in a skilled user's hands. This Masalong Karambit will be on my belt in the "appendix carry" position when I know beforehand I will be going into any potentially dangerous areas where carrying this size knife is legal, and will absolutely be on my belt in the "appendix carry" position in the event of a SHTF event, along with additional self-defense "tools".Your self-defense training may already have instilled "The Eye of the Tiger" in you when confronted with a threat. I was very pleased at first, but when I examined the knife closer I noticed a fairly long crack in the wood on the handle and a small crack or separation in the steel tang just above it. The combination of the two cracks has created an uneven transition between the handle and the tang. Not a deal breaker really, but a bit more QC should have been done by the maker before boxing and shipping. Other than that, it really is a great knife and if used properly could be extremely lethal.

It is absolutely worth the money, nice and sturdy and has a nice weight for doing tricks! The belt clip unfortunately doesn't expand far enough to fit my leather belt but I'm not too upset about it! This knife is a MUST get.Edit: I didnt originally realize but there is pieces that can pop out of the sheaths belt clip so it fits nicely on my belt!!

Love this blade and been collecting quality knives for a long time along with guns and this is definitely worth the money it's absolutely beautiful

Für das Geld ein sehr schön verarbeitetes Full-tag Karambit-Messer. Die Klinge hat an der Innenseite schon die nötige Schärfe wer will könnte die Außenseite im vorderen Drittel vor der Zahnung noch schärfen. (wichtig nach innen gebogene Klingen zu schärfen ist mit erheblichen Aufwand verbunden) Die Scheide ist keine optische Schönheit, doch würde sie sich für ein verdecktes tatsächliches Führen des Messers eignen.Bei mir kommt es in die Vitrine.......

Dass Messer hat eine super Qualität und ist sehr scharf.Die Halterung ist auch sehr gut verarbeitet. Messer sitzt perfekt drinnen.Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Mega scharf und mein Mann ist absolut begeistert. Das Messer ist echt nicht ohne und sollte nicht leichtfertig genutzt werden. Habe ihm jetzt erstmal ein Übingsmesser bestellt, damit nix passiert. Wer sowas in sehr scharf sucht ist hier an der absolut richtigen Adresse. Daumen hoch

Das Messer ist einwandfrei, die Lieferzeit mit drei Wochen ziemlich lang. Kommt allerdings aus China. Verarbeitung ist super. Die Kydex-Scheide ist ohne Tadel. Von mir beide Daumen hoch !!!

Tolles Messer , gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis , leider musste ich es selber beim Zoll abholen.Es war ein ganz schönes hin und her bis ich es dann schließlich doch mitnehmen durfte.Das Messer ist laut Gesetz nicht verboten aber wird als Hieb und Stichwaffe angesehen und darf nur besessen werden aber nicht geführt werden.
