Tejano Proud: Tex-Mex Music in the Twentieth Century - This is a great book for ALL TEJANO'S that LOVE tejano music. I bought this book as a gift for my father's 64th birthday and he loves it. Having grown up in Uvalde Texas and playing in his own Tejano group Los Hermanos Cardenas back in the late 50's early 60's and listening to all the original pioneers of Tejano music, this book really brought back a lot of memories for him.Tejano Proud shows the history of Tejano music from the very beginning to the present state of Tejano music. Including Orquestas Tejanas, Accordion Conjuntos(Grupo Bernal, Tony De LaRosa), Organ & Synthesizer based grupos(Grupo Mayo, Mazz), and the Era of Corporate Involvement. When the major record labels started to take interest in Tejano music. The TEJANO BOOM of the 90's , when Tejano Music was at it's PEAK, with groups like La Mafia, Selena, La Diferenzia, Mazz, Emilio, and the list go's on and on.If you love Tejano music and are interested in Tejano music history from the beginning to the present - I definitely recommend "Tejano Proud"!

My father, Mario Alberto Campos, was mentioned in this book. He passed away in 2015.The book was a used condition-It did contain notes from a previous student. Wasn’t a problem at all. I will most likely purchase more copies!
