Almost Perfect! You're Going to Want to Buy Two Though.
Dover's Goddesses Coloring Book has swiftly become one of my all time favorite coloring books. Each of the illustrations is absolutely gorgeous and has the potential to become a true work of art. The cultural variety of the images is also fantastic. As another reviewer mentioned, however, you're going to want to order two. And the quality of the book itself is far from perfect. The biggest drawback to this book is that the pictures are printed on both sides of the page. The paper is of good quality but only if you're coloring with something like colored pencils or crayons. I don't think the colors will show through or affect the appearance of colors on the other side of the paper. But the illustrations were just so beautiful in this book I wound up ordering two. There is so much detail that I didn't want to risk ruining one of my first completed paged by coloring the image on the opposite side.Another issue I've had is with the ink used to print the image. I use Prismacolor Colored Pencils and Gamsol with a blending stump for color blending and smoothing. Unfortunately, if you aren't very careful, you can smear the ink used to print the image which creates a somewhat soiled looking effect to lighter colors. If you like to blend your colored pencils with another pencil, a blending marker or gamsol and a blending stump, be careful of smudging the ink. Try to stay between the lines, especially in areas where you're using lighter colors. I tested this, and had the same problem with both a dry blending stump that did not have any gamsol on it, and an eraser as well. Because of this issue I would have given the book 3 stars, but I love it so much that I just didn't have the heart to go lower than four.As other reviewers have mentioned, there are also unfinished lines, and lines that are tough to decipher. The unfinished lines are easy enough to remedy, but some of the oddly placed lines can't really be hidden by colored pencil, which makes the thin paper and double sided images more of a problem. With the exception of the above issues, I truly have no complaints with this book. With so many beautifully detailed images and so much diversity contained in it's pages, the Goddesses Coloring Book should keep any coloring enthusiast busy for a very long time. Seriously, buy two though. If you don't, you'll regret it.

This is fun! Feel free to EXPRESS YOURSELF!
I DID ITThere needs a way to give half a star on a product. I would on like to give this coloring book 4.5 stars because I would like to take the final product out to compare it with practice copy.I may have to order another book so I have one on which to practice and the other to just "go for it". I colored in the title page and then went to the page they took it from (the more complex page). There I was able to "fix" some of the things I didn't like on the first drawing. The dress is the prime example. I simplified it thus making it stand out more. Looking at all the uncolored pictures, I noticed there were none that came close to women of color...the deeper color than say American Indian, the African American. So I took a dark brown color to turn her to the more negroid in color. I also gave her cheek bones. In the second one, I not only gave her cheek bones, I added a bit of cheek color. Do I know what I'm doing, NO...but I'm having fun playing! I've been playing with shading as well. My iPhone pictures came across so I am able to share them. 'hope you like them. Some of the inspiration came from the front and back covers. Some from watching makeup domestications on contouringI like the complexity of the drawings. It gives me a chance to different things I've seen and wanted to try. Like others have mentioned, I wish they were single sided. I did make copies of all the other pages so I can make a practice type drawing and then make the changes I want in the book.

Bleed thru issues but still so beautiful.
Love this coloring book's designs. Creative and well done. Some coloring books cn be a bit too busy in their attempt to leave you lots of little pockets to color. These images are nicely spaced, balanced, with very clean lines. the little intel on each goddess is also nice and contributed to my getting a second one for my niece. She always seemed to pick this book when we had our coloring dates.I only took away one star because the book has images on both sides of the pages but the paper isn't quiet thick enough to keep ink from bleeding thru, sometimes to not just the back of the page but the page underneath if you use sharpies and sometimes even with standard gel pens. I'd also advise putting a blotter page under which ever page you're woking on. and while its hard to choose which image to color, and which one to sacrifice, the price point on this book is so low(especially given the quality of art work) that you can just order another copy to have at the images you lost thru bleeding.

i love the explaination on each drawing
this is lovely colouring book . the designs are very well drawn . there very detailed . i love the explaination on each drawing . the reson for 3 stars is the print is one both sides of the page and when colouring with fine liners the other page is messed up with the dreaded bleed though . was going to try colouring pencils but the detail of drawings is to detailed for pencils . im only going to be able to do half of book . this is such a shame as its an awsome book .

Meditative, creative Self Expression.
Many people have asked me where the numbers are for the colour. However I always point out that this is an adult's book for reimagining our colour palette and exploring the inner landscape to connect to our soul self. That of course usually goes straight over the heads of the asker, but that is what this is.There is something so contemplative, and meditative in colouring in a picture, especially if you like me are not great on representational drawing.

goddesses colouring book
What a lovely book to colour. The paper isn't for markers or water colour paints but for coloured pencils it's perfect. I had hours of pleasure jut sitting and colouring the beautiful pictures. Some of them are quite intricate and therefore need more concentration. I was sad when I came to the end of it, Howeverl Amazon stocks loads more lovely books to colour

Beautiful illustrations for colouring
The cover of this book looked a bit cheesy to be honest but the content is really nice! Much much better than I thought. I love the goddess pictures and I'm really looking forward to colouring them in. It would be nice if the pages didn't back onto each other, but paper quality ok (I've had better)

Brilliant!
Gorgeous colouring book for adult ladies. Some small details but not too small and annoying. Finished mine in a month. Enjoyed reading about each Goddess at bottom of page too.
