Very nice woody scene but isn’t long lasting
I bought this perfume as a gift. The fragrance is divine but j wish it was more long lasting.

Quick delivery and good price, didn't know what to think of this ...
Quick delivery and good price, didn't know what to think of this at first because it's so different to anything I've used before. The packaging is smart with the wooden lid and dark glass design and the packaging says a lot about the fragrance in the fact that when you first put it on there's a strong smell of fresh wood,a hint of what I can only describe as a very subtle petrol smell and fresh grass,at first I thought oh no ,but after a short while the smell is actually very nice and I'd go as far as to say its one of my favourite fragances and under 40 pounds this is a bargain. The only reason I don't give this a five is because I would recommend trying this in the shops before buying it online because it has a unique smell in which your going to love or hate it

Unique to say the least
The fragrance is in its own category in terms of scent. It is musk and wood on a whole new level. This can be quite strong when first sprayed which can be quite overwhelming however this calms down within 15 minutes or so to it’s true level. It actually isn’t that strong which in my opinion actually saves this fragrance a little bit, the subtle wood scent works well. It is very masculine. Wearing this fragrance I can confirm from my experience men give me more compliments for this fragrance more than women. Make of that what you will. Also from my experience this fragrance lasts no more than 4 hours which was dissapointing.

Masterpiece niche perfume, BUT PLEASE READ...
I've purchased Encre Noire once before and fell in love with it...it really is a masterpiece. Just take a look at some of the YouTube videos, pretty much all rave about it...Due to this I feel I have a decent base to right this review.Sillage and projection are very, very poor. So much so, I've actually given up using it. Yes there's a strong scent of 'Encre Noire' when straight out of the bottle, but it doesn't last long on skin AT ALL.I need to emphasis that this is not a reflection of the perfume Encre Noire, as with my previous bottle, I did not have this issue.......but something just isn't quite right with this bottle/supplier. It just evaporates, pretty much immediately and as I mentioned earlier, it's got to the point I don't use it now (literally a week later). So, here's my advice... You're looking to buy encre noire because you've heard great things about it, well that's correct. I personally think it's an amazing perfume, but I wouldn't get it from this supplier, otherwise your opinion of Encre Noire will be tainted. Buy cheap (est), buy twice.

excellent entry point into niche frags
ok, first things first - if you're thinking of buying this because you're looking to smell great to a *wide* range of people, stop. i don't think this is that. pick up club de nuit intense (aventus clone) or one of the many, many designer "blue" fragrances. if you're on a budget, Milton lloyd has a clone of sauvage called Leo that's a tenner and will get you most of the way there imo.encre noire translates to black ink, and the perfumer has done a fantastic job with that in mind - i mostly get cypress, vetiver, wood and an inkiness that permeates and ties it together. the thing is, i don't know many people who would like to be constantly smelling an inky forest. I love it, I know other people who love it, but it's not something I'd say has mass appeal. If you see people saying longevity sucks - I don't see how that's possible. This is a pretty ISO e super heavy fragrance, which sticks around. It's possible they're just going anosmic to it.For what it is, I think it's impeccable. The price is crazy for what you're getting. Detractors have said it's "simple" and that chanel's Sycamore does it better - well, maybe, but sycamore is 10x more expensive.encre noire has a well deserved cult status in the fragrance community and unless lalique triple the price i don't see that changing
