Top quality pocket knife perfect for the less practical -casual user
The knife arrived very quickly and securely packed. The quality of the product as always is 110% - absolutely perfect.I have been a Swiss Army Knife fan for around 45 years and own around ten in total and a variety of models but mainly the larger models with many functions.Being a practical person I can safely say that there is never a day that goes by without me using my current Swiss Champ at least once, usually many times. When working I travelled The World and became well known as "The man with the Swiss Army Knife". The "Swiss Champ" for me is the only one to go for because with it I can tackle so many tasks and seem to be able to use it to get myself out of most tight corners that ever arise. The Classic SD was purchased as a present for a close friend's birthday. He has since thanked me and stated that he was so impressed by it he wishes that he had bought one long before now.I would make the point that the Classic SD is very much a basic convenience knife that will last a lifetime for the average - occasional- user. It is of a smaller design and easy to carry in pocket or handbag but lacks the strength and durability of the larger multi-function models. Nonetheless an excellent "starter" knife especially for young boys and girls. I chose it for my (not particularly practical) friend because it has many of the functions that I knew he would find useful - a small sharp blade, a good sharp pair of scissors, a toothpick and small screwdriver on the end of the nailfile. For a more practical person like myself I would suggest that they purchase one of the larger knives and that the other very regularly used functions are likely to be - the large screwdriver, magnifying glass, cross head screwdriver, wood saw, pair of pliers and rather amazingly the ball point pen( often used in conjunction with the palm of the hand).Going back to the Classic SD. Summing up it is a superb, high quality knife that will never let you down. It is nonetheless hampered by it's small size and limited facilities and as such is more for the casual user. Victorinox do however offer a very comprehensive collection of alternative models to suit all needs and most are available via our good friend Amazon.I know from many years personal experience that it is better to get a Swiss Army knife with more facilities rather than less. Having done this it is amazing how quickly you start to find uses for all those tools that you never ever thought you would need.

Compact, robust and very useful.
I carry this knife with me in my pocket wherever I go. The toothpick I use almost every day. The small scissors often being used for trimming loose threads on clothing or cutting fabric tape, which I often need for patching myself up! The knife itself is useful for opening annoyingly difficult packaging, opportunistically sharpening a pencil, trimming back the plastic shielding on electrical cables before soldering and the multitude of other things that small knives generally get used for. The nail file is also very useful if your nails start to get to the point where they are catching on things but not really long enough to warrant the scissors. On the end of the nail file is also a small flat blade screwdriver which I think I've used once or twice for prying, scraping or poking various things I've been attempting to repair. The most useless thing about the knife is probably the tweezers which have failed me every time I've got a splinter, they're just not firm, sharp or grippy enough to pull splinters unless there is a long bit sticking out which there never is.All in very happy with it, has proven to be both robust and extremely handy.

Great little knife.
Well made and lightweight. Fits in a pocket and very handy. I have an old one I bought 30 years ago that works just as new.

It's called Classic for a reason.
As a big lover of Swiss Army Knives I am somewhat biased, however I can say that this has not let my expectations, or the brand, down.I have the Victorinox Mini Champ and whilst I love it, I found that the tools I use the most are the ones on this Victorinox Classic. It's called Classic for a reason. The mini knife blade, easily acceptable to carry in the UK, and the highly useful and robust scissors are my main go to. The other features are the nail file, mini flat head screw driver, tweezers and toothpick. All very useful, so compact and all there when I need them. I carry mine on my keys.I ordered the Classic in yellow, which is unusual for me but its bright colour lends to its overall aesthetic appeal and is easy to find in low light. The stay sharp blades, the audible click and smooth mechanism conforms to the quality and credibility we've all come to expect from Victorinox. The only minor negative I can say is that the scales do tend to get easily scuffed and scratched as they are plastic but this does not detract from its usage. There was even a small cover\sheath provided to protect the knife to carry it in, if you so choose.Overall I am very pleased with my purchase, I even bought my girlfriend one as a gift as she'd been eyeing mine up.I'd recommend this if you are looking for a small, functional and reliable knife to carry in your pocket or on your keys. A great must-have for any EDC fan.
