Vodafone K3772 Mobile Broadband Dongle Pay As You Go

I am new to computers and have only had internet access via my phone, until I was given an Android netbook recently as a gift. I can't afford expensive internet providers and thought this dongle would be a good way to start until I knew how much I would be likely to use the netbook. It arrived quickly two days later by recorded delivery, but when I plugged it in nothing happened. It was only then I read what was written on the box and discovered it needed such things as Windows or Mac, which my little netbook doesn't have. Why is this information not given here? I would not have ordered something useless to me had they told me that. I then requested a return and posted the item back to the shop. I have just received an email from Amazon to tell me they have refunded the cost of the dongle, but for some reason the reason they gave was that the item had been out of stock. This clearly was not true since I had received it and returned it. But what annoyed me was they have not refunded the cost of posting it back. I feel it was Amazons fault because they didn't give the relevent information in their description, and I am not happy about loosing the return postage. If you are new to computers my advice is, don't buy from Amazon, their descriptions are too vague. Go to a proper shop and ask an expert for some sensible advice. Also don't trust that Amazon will always honour their promise to refund the cost of returning items when the problem is their fault.

I am often not in wifi area [eg frequently on house boat] and this little plug-in usually - tho slightly temperamentally - allows me to connect up. When it doesn't work, I suspect it is signal problem rather than any failing of device. And it has gone on working longer than it indicated it would - and no need for top ups yet.

This dongle was 12 months out of date.

Did the job it was purchased for whilst waiting for an internet connection. Just need to find a spot in your home where a signal can be got.

Arrived super fast the next day (now that's what online shopping is about )have not actually used yet as in reality i do not actually need it till next month put the thing looks ok package well.Will try to update review when i use it in a few weeks time.

I chose this rating because I used the product whilst on holiday. The problems are:-1 - The 2 £5 tops ups were not there when I registered it!.2 - You can only top it up by £20 by card once in the first 30 days. In the small print Vodafone claim its for protection and depending on how you speak to in there PAYG call centre it is either Vodafone policy or the banks policy.3 - When trying to find out how to top up again the call centre offered differing explanations which one of which was incorrect i.e. the one about buying a top up from the local mobile/supermarket/shop etc.4 - The Vodafone website is confusing with no simple explanation of the situation - so you explore the customer forum (on the vodafone website) which discusses this situation and the answer is to buy a top up from a local store and call Vodafone they will then apply the top up manually. - NO THEY WONT! They do not do that.5 - You can talk to anyone with authority in Vodafone you have to request a call back which may happen in 24/48 hours. Policy is you cannot talk to anyone at all when you call. I even tried calling Vodafone HQ - they will not accept a call from a customer!Do Not Buy this Vodafone product - or any other as far as I am concerned. The company is not interested in how it treats customers not how its products and policies fail them - after spending your money you have to do the hard work!

Plug and play the advertising strap said. Rather plug, get frustrated, swear several times and telephone vodafone support twice! I took my laptop camping to do some online business and bought the dongle specifically for that purposze. I never did get to use the laptop as intended because the dongle would not work. It took two goes with technical support before I was told there was a signal everywhere else but not at my house (yes we had got back home after 10 days of trying) - strange as my mobile is vodafone and that works fine at home. From my experiences, my advice would be steer well clear, it was a total waste of money!. Michael
