Thompson'sFamily Teas - Decaf(80 tea bags)

I'm so glad I tried this based on someone else's review. I have been disappointed in most decaf teas. Many taste sort of soapy to me, not quite the right word but something off. There is a Twinings or two that is at least missing that off-note, but I missed the astringent tang of real tea. Thompsons, you can brew into a very strong cup with some bite to it, and one bag will make a strong large mug (I think our mugs are around 12 oz.) I like to brew it between four and four and a half minutes, covered with a small dish. But I've also lost track of it and left the bag in "forever" and if you like "bite," it is still good!

I've tried decaffeinated PG Tips, Typhoo, Yorkshire Gold, Twinings, Taylor's, Bigelow, The Republic of Tea, Tetley, Stash, Tazo, and all kinds of store brand teas. Some of them are pretty good, but all of them taste like decaf (and some taste like decaffeinated cardboard). Thompson's is different. It has a lovely smooth flavor and goes well with milk. The color is also pleasing. I have had it just before bedtime and it hasn't affected my sleep, which I add because I don't know what the caffeine content might be.

I'm a tea drinker for 40 years and I need to limit my caffeine. Sadly, most decafs just lack the robust flavor of regular black teas. This was the best surprise ever! It is rich and malty, strong and dark -- just what I want in any cuppa! I am hooked and will be buying this for life! Where have you been, Thompson's and why haven't I ever heard of you before now?!? Keep this formula please! Barry's Irish decaf used to taste this good and then about 15 years ago, they changed the formula and now it's only "meh". I'm a convert!!

This is a decaf that tastes like regular tea, not watered down.

GOOD TASTE, NO CAFFEINE :)...COUPLE BAGS WERE THORN...:(...I LIKE NICE CUP OF TEE WITH COUPLE DROPS OF LEMON JUICE...:))

No decaf tea is as good as regular, but this is one of the best I've had. I definitely enjoy it in the evening when I feel like I need a cup of tea, but don't want to stay awake all night. Good quantity for the price as well.

It’s hard to find decaf teas that are full bodied, delicious, and not bitter. Recently I have been relying on Irish and English brands of decaf black tea but some are too bitter. I tried Thompson’s for the first time this summer and I love it. I only need to use four teabags per teapot rather than my usual five, water that is just below a full rolling boil, and a four minute brew. I’ll be reordering once the price returns to a reasonable level. Today it is $12.99 for a box of 80, too high. PG Tips Decaf is a good substitute while I wait.
